HI! I am a transfer student at UCLA. I just finished my first quarter at UCLA and I get 4.0 GPA. But I don't really feel like UCLA is the best choice for me. So I am consider transfer from UCLA to UCI or other UCs'. But I am not sure it is possible for me to do it. Please help me with that~~ By the way, I am an Economics major at UCLA..

Are you sure you want to transfer OUT of UCLA??? First, consider your reasons and where you would want to transfer to. Then, your best option would be to drop out of UCLA as soon as possible and attend a CC. This way you can still qualify for TAGs (transfer admission guarantees) with UCSD, UCSB, UCD, UCI, UCSC, UCR and UCM. You could also take your chances and stay at UCLA to become a UC-UC transfer. I believe you need a high GPA, many ECs and a good reason to qualify for UC-UC transfer. Finally, you can also try to come to terms with UCLA. I’m sure you’ll come to like it once you’re there for a while and get accustomed to it…

transferring out of UCLA… that’s rare.

You are already a junior at ucla right? You said you are a transfer student at ucla…

I say suck it up and stay there for the remaining 5 quarters…its ucla.

I’m a community college student…working my ass off…and I still don’t think I can get in with a 3.7 gpa…DON’T TAKE LA FOR GRANTED…u should be grateful that you got in.

I’ve spent a ton of time over the past ~4 years at UCLA (close friend, girlfriend and cousin all went/go there) and I went to UCI for a quarter. I have no idea what you think you’ll find at UCI that you don’t at UCLA.

Guys, you do need to realize that some people just don’t like certain schools. A lot of students may prefer prestige, but you will always find those who truly care about their school environment. I’ve seen several students give up their admission to Berkeley just so they can study at UCSC.

Otherwise, as someone else brought up…aren’t you already a junior transfer at UCLA? If thats the case, I THINK (someone might want to chime in on this) your only option is to go back to community college. My only reasoning behind this is that you cannot hit senior level standing if you are interested in transferring again. If you end up taking a route like this, I highly suggest VISITING the college, crashing some courses, and staying with a friend on campus for a few days. Schools may look good on paper or might have a good rep given by your friends, but it’s YOUR perspective that matters the most.

You can drop out and go to back to cc. The biggest cost is that you will be losing 2 years. I say two cause its already too late to transfer for this year.

I would just man up and finish your major there. Material-wise econ will be the same everywhere. The environment however is different but should be bearable for another year and half.

■■■■■ alert

^we’re just want to show him how fortunate he is to be in UCLA.

I know some IB friends that got into UCB, but they got rejected from UCLA due to lack of Leadership.

Like I said before…LA is LA. Live for the moment when people ask you “what school do you go to?” and when you say “UCLA”…their expression saids it all. “O_O…woah!”

it’s true that some ppl do not like UCLA. but in your case, it’s too late to transfer again to another school. i would just man up and graduate from UCLA.

@MidnightGolfer: I get that, but I was a student at UCI and I’ve spent countless days/nights at UCLA. There’s literally nothing you’ll find at UCI that you can’t find at UCLA… unless you’re looking for a dead quiet campus with a bunch of commuters.

I get 4.0 gpa at my Junior College and getting a good grade is not a problem for me~~ The only problem is what can I do with my major?? I feel like I am not learning anything in class and I find out Economic is not the subject I am interested~~

@Grimes99: Maybe he likes the student environment better? I have a lot of friends I knew in high school that absolutely love UCI. I don’t believe any of them got into UCLA though, but they all seem to love the atmosphere there.
