I got admitted by GS as a Math major. I am unsure what I want to do in the future. I checked there is a 3+2 combined program that gets a degree from GS and SEAS. However, I am thinking of changing my major to CS or CE, and I saw CE is only in SEAS. Is it possible to switch a major from GS to SEAS? On websites, if the applicants have sound academic reasons, they will be considered.
Contact the college and ask.
Once you matriculate, there is an internal transfer process. You’ll have to fill out an application at the end of your first year, and then explain why you’d like to transfer. The GS dean will have to sign off, and then it goes to admissions. Generally its a pretty straightforward process.
The downside of transferring to SEAS is that you’ll be limited to a total of 8 semesters (including previous transfer work). They won’t give you extra time to graduate. So it might be tough to finish everything. The advantage of SEAS is that the financial aid will probably be better than GS. Also note that you can complete the requirements for CS as a GS student.
