Transfer help? Please???

Ashville is a very VERY VERY indie kind of city. It has a lot of hippies and such. If that bothers you UNC Ashville would be bad although I don't know much about the school.

I don't think UNCA is so "easy to get into". It's a small school (less than 4000 students) and from what I've heard it the 3rd most difficult of the North Carolina State schhols to get into (first is UNC-Chapel Hill, second is UNC-Wlmington). My daughter's SATs were 1400 with 3 AP classes & high GPA and she got into UNCA. She loves it.

I never said it's easy to get into. I think NC State is second most difficult to get into after Chapel Hill, but not by much over UNCA. (You did mean 1400/1600, right?)

yes, 1400/1600

Sorry, it was SoccerGuy who said it 'should be easy to get into'.

Well I dont think 1400/1600 is reflective of anywhere near the average. A friend of mine who's at UNCA is probably in that range too. I'm about at the 50% range for SATs, but my GPA is a little low. I think I'd have a good chance though.

My D is a sophomore at UF. She turned down BU SMG for UF. I am surprised to hear that BU has such a party atmosphere (these days). I will tell you that the partying is going on everywhere...this much I have learned from reading these boards. That said, my D loves UF. She loves the school spirit, the campus, the weather, her classes, her sorority etc. She does not love the party atmosphere...she also would prefer dinner and movie with friends to hanging at clubs with the drunken masses. UF can also be quite the party school but, it seems that most of the kids are very happy there (despite its size). Good luck to you in finding a better fit.

There's a good chance I might end up at UF. We're buying a house in South Florida in the next year or so, so I may very well go the community college
--> UF route. I understand the partying is worse there, but I've always wanted to be a Gator. My dad went to law school there. I'd sacrifice in a heartbeat. Plus, Warrington is a very good school anyway.

hey, im currently in UF and its amazing trust me...warrington is no.14 for finance and no.7 for marketing...and the rankings are going to go up next year especially becasue we've had a hike in tuition and also huge endowments are starting to flow in....it would be a great experience...there are a ton of recruiters here and the professors here used to be proffs in upenn, yale and all...the party scene is extremely exxagerated...theres good spirit but if u join the honors program, ull see that ur classes are abt 10 times harder than regular classes...infact i know a guy who transferred in from columbia and he said the honors classes were much tougher than the normal classes at columbia...so def. consider UF...ull love it

I wont get into the honors program--I'd be lucky to get in to begin with.

i can't say much about most of the schools on your list but i do know that transferring into UF as a sophomore is really hard to do. basically it's a longshot unless you had a 1400+ SAT and a good college GPA. it's much easier to transfer into UF as a junior so taking the community college to UF route wouldn't be such a bad idea if UF is really the place that you want to go. the reason that it's so hard to get in as a sophomore is because there are so many kids who go to SFCC for 2 years and enter as juniors... anyone who goes to community college for 2 years in florida can get into UF. you should also consider the university of miami if your family plans to move to south florida. great school, beautiful campus, great location. but it's also private so if your family's financial situation isn't great then you'd have to try for some scholarships. anyways, good luck with everything and i hope you end up somewhere where you'll be happy!

I absolutely hated Miami with a passion. I decided against the FL CC to UF route as it's too complicated and nothing is guaranteed. I'm starting at Temple in January. Thanks though.

aw okay, good luck!

Thanks. Appreciate it.

bo5ton.............

i have a question why did u hate miami cause im pretty sure im applying there and would just like to no a little about your experience

I didnt like the campus. I didnt like the area of Coral Gables. I know around 10 or so people there and the people I know there and the people I saw there are what I would call plastic, wealthy and feel entitled. The business school was nice, but I remember there was a lot of ivy and stuff on the buildings and I thought it looked out of place.
