I'm currently a second semester sophomore wanting to transfer from a CUNY to a SUNY for Fall 2012. I am on the pre-med track and have completed inorganic chemistry and will finish biology this semester. By the end of this semester I will have completed 65 credits. I want to transfer because the SUNYs that I intend to transfer to are better ranked and have their own hospitals. I feel like they will give me more opportunities and will also help me become more independent and get away from home which are some things that CUNYs cannot provide. The things I worry about are that some credits may not transfer over, that I will not graduate within four years, and that I may not like the school after I transfer. I have already applied but I'm having doubts especially since I'm doing pre-med.

What are your opinions on my situation? Should I accept my transfer if I do get in? Or should I just finish my undergrad at the CUNY?

Some schools accept more than 60 credits. Check if this is the case at the school you want to go to. If not, your concerns sound legitimate enough to stay where you are.

Hey guys, I realize this thread is over a year old, but I had some concerns that were really starting to nag me. I just finished my freshman year as a chem major at UMass Amherst and am angling to transfer schools after next year. So far, my list of schools consists only of Emory and Northeastern, but I’m worried about my high school and college stats. Here goes:

High School:
GPA: 3.8/5 (approx. 3.1/4)
SAT: 1800
ACT: 26
SAT II: Chem 680, US History 600
AP Psych: 4

College:
GPA: 3.056 (if I get straight A’s this semester, which I intend to, I’ll get up to a 3.34)
Clubs: Quiz Bowl, also applying for a couple of jobs next year.
Recommendations: Working on it

How are my chances? Can anyone suggest any feasible schools in case Emory and Northeastern don’t work out? Thanks.
