FORMER Virginia resident.. wondering how this affects chances at UVA
might have a 4.1/4.2 at the end of semester.. does this change my chances? thanks!

A little advice would be to stick it out through your sophomore year, and then apply for junior year transfer. If you do this, they will virtually ignore your high school record. If you apply now (for soph year), they will take into account your high school record (bigtime). To be honest, if you couldn’t get into an Ivy coming out of high school, then you most likely will not have a chance after just one set of college grades. Stick it out and get a 4.0 and you will have very good chances.
