UVA TRANSFER please help~!

<p>Hello, I'm going to be an incoming freshman at a private school this fall
However, I would like to transfer to UVA for next year.
So
My High School Stat:
GPA:3.53(unweighted/weighted; school only has one GPA; top 60 best high school in U.S.)
<em>My GPA was very ascending from freshman to senior year</em>
ACT: 27w/ writing score of 10
volunteer: 80hours
Soccer - 3 years in high school
In Highschool, I did not apply because I felt that my stats were a little too low.
So, my final question is that if I get a near 4.0 GPA of in my first semester of college and start a volunteer job to
help with my EC's than what are my chances of getting into UVA as a sophomore transfer?
(I will be applying as an econ major)
Thank you so much!
P.S. current school that I will be attending is ranked under top 100.</p>

<p>It might be difficult to apply with only one semester’s grades…but I wouldn’t count it out, plenty of people have done it. I would highly, highly suggest working towards a 4.0. Also, look at the UVA gen ed. requirements and look to see how many you may be able to fulfill during your first year.</p>

<p>I think you have to have something like 60 credit hours to transfer to UVa? I’m pretty sure that they very rarely admit rising second years. I could be wrong though, and if you have credits from AP classes or something that could change things. There is a UVA transfer blog, so you could probably find the info there.</p>

<p>No, the rule is you can’t transfer more than 60 credits to UVA and that you must complete at least 60 credits in residence at UVA. </p>

<p>Admission of rising second years is not completely uncommon. I know quite a few people who did it, but they had awesome high school stats and had 4.0’s in their first year at their school. The closer you are to high school, the more those grades, scores, EC’s matter. The further along you progress into college, the less they matter. At some schools (not UVA), rising junior/third year transfers don’t need to even submit HS transcripts or SAT scores.</p>

<p>Oh, oops. :P</p>

<p>I think I was thinking of the “rarely admit first year spring transfers” </p>

<p>I got this off of the transfer website: (which seems to have a lot of good/important info)
“Students interested in spring admission must have 24 credit hours earned and completed prior to the application deadline of Nov. 1. For this reason it is highly unlikely that a student in the first year of college would be permitted to apply as a spring transfer applicant.”
Oh and the website is [Transfer</a> Students, Undergraduate Admission, U.Va.](<a href=“http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/transfer.html]Transfer”>http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/transfer.html) if you’re interested.</p>
