Transfer Housing?

Hey guys, does anyone on here know the situation for transfer housing (specifically a sophomore transfer). Are they required to live on campus? What do most transfers typically do?

bump help…

A year or two ago, most transfers lived in Northwood or off campus. Not sure what the story is now that Northwood is packed with freshmen. I lived in East Quad my first year as a junior transfer and was comfortable in the dorms, but I did have a freshman roommate-- if you’re not happy about rooming with an underclassmen, and it does have its drawbacks, get a single or live off campus.

Are they required to live on campus? - no you can live anywhere. If you are new to Michigan I would suggest a dorm for the first year to get acclimated and to meet some people.
What do most transfers typically do? - not sure I can answer, not sure what my son will do. He is very familiar with campus but will be new to the University, I’m guessing he may do the dorm for a year.

I’m technically a sophomore transfer, but with AP credit I’ll be graduating early so this will essentially be my junior year. Since I’ll be a junior and I hate dorms, I’ll probably get a single/studio. Anyone here have advice on places that have singles in the 1k-1.2k range?

Start with Craigslist. You need to decide if you want to live on or off campus. I commuted a few miles to Michigan’s campus which meant a car, parking, etc but my housing cost was less. Most of the newer apartment complexes are a ways away but there are some older high rise apartments and many older homes and small apartments very near campus. CL will give you an idea on the various costs.
