Transfer in 1 year from UCSB to UCLA

Hi, I’m currently a senior in high school that is going to attend UCSB in the fall.
But I really want to go to UCLA, UCB, USC, or UChicago. Is it possible to get into these top schools in just a year? (meaning applying as a freshman and entering as a sophomore). If I pass all my AP exams in may, I will have 44 units (quarters). My current major for UCSB is pre-economic and accounting but I might change it to pre-global and international studies.

Also, If my major is economics and accounting in UCSB, do I have to apply for economics when I transfer or I can choose something completely different?

Note that none of the UC’s take lower division transfer.
You would have to have completed 60 semester or 90 quarter units (typically two years) to qualify.
USC and U Chicago would both entertain a sophomore transfer, but the chances are fairly low since you’d be applying
mid-way through your freshman year, with only one semester of grades to show how you’ve fared as a college student.

@hop Since I’m applying as a freshman for USC and UChicago, will my highschool gpa and SAT be a huge factor like the freshman applications? I think my high school GPA is really good but my SAT is mediocre.

If you take classes at UCSB you cannot apply to USC and UChicago, or any college, as a freshman. they will know and it will be an automatic rejection.

Were you offered ttp at USC? They do take sophomore transfers. If not try to talk to admissions and see if you could be considered for Trojan transfer plan.

@TomSrOfBoston Yeah I know. Sorry my wording was weird. I didn’t mean applying for freshman undergrad but transferring for Sophomore year (meaning applying when I’m a freshman).

@socalmom007 Hey no I didn’t apply for USC this year. So next year will be the first time I will be applying. Is it possible to get on the Trojan transfer plan even though I didn’t apply?

That I wouldn’t know, but I doubt it. They will look at a sophomore transfer though.

@socalmom007 Yeah I doubt it as well. Thanks for the info though.
