Im currently going to foothill community college here in los altos in the Bay area. Im going down to santa barbara for a week soon for vacation, but im seriously thinking about transferring to SBCC there and then from there transfer to a UC (most likely UCSB). i dont necessarily have to transfer in the middle of the year per-say. But is it possible to transfer there and finish my last year of CC there? would there be other problems? such as classes to take? because I know if you want to get into a CSU or UC you have to follow the set of requirement, and if i go there i dont want to have to take those classes again. and i dont mean moving the beginning of this year, but more like in the middle of the school year or possibly next school year, for my last year

You should check assist.org to make sure SBCC offers the classes that you need. The biggest thinbg to keep in mind though is priority. Will you be able to register for the classes you need as you will be new student and will not have priority like at your current CC.

It doesn’t matter how many different cc’s you go to . I was admitted to UCD as a transfer and will be going this fall. I have attend 4 different cc’s over many, many years. All the classes, and grades are valid no matter where and when you took them. Check assist.org to see how the classes transfer to your UC of choice. As the other poster said, what you will lose is the priority you have already attained at your current cc. If you start as a new student at SBCC you will be at the bottom of the priority ladder and will likely not get all the classes you want for the first semester or two. But keep in mind you have lots of GE’s to finish and there will be plenty of classes you can take. You just may not get the exact math, science, or English you want right away. Moving in the middle in the year is no problem. Just the priority thing. All classes you take at cc’s carry over so you would never have to take anything over.

The only problem is that as a new student, you’ll have lower priority registration than you would at your old CCC. But other than that, no problems.

Oh, if you are registering for classes with prereqs (or classes you have to test into like english or math) you should go to the office with transcripts ahead of time to make sure there won’t be any holds on your account.
