So I got this transfer option last year that said:
But can we keep the conversation going? If you are still passionate about the University of Michigan, we would be happy to accept you as a sophomore level transfer to the University (rather than the typical junior level transfer). You would not need to fill out the application again, although we do ask that you maintain a “3.0” grade point average or higher while enrolled in transferable courses at another college during the 2015-2016 academic year (12-15 credit hours each semester).
You can get the ball rolling by contacting us by email at uace@umich.edu. If you think that this option is for you, please let us know no later than February 1, 2016 so that we have time to process the necessary paperwork.
We thank you for your strong interest in the University of Michigan, and wish you the best as you pursue your educational goals.
Does anyone have any clue what this is because I sent in my stuff to them but theres no information online about it and I don’t know what UMICH is trying to do here. I feel like its vague or maybe im just paranoid. Is anyone else in the same boat?
When did you email them? If you did so over the holiday break, of course you weren’t getting a response. You can try calling the undergraduate admissions office at 734-764-7433.
I emailed a few weeks back they sent me a google form which I filled out and then I sent my HS transcript and fall transcript but many people who received this option said it was like a guaranteed transfer option as long as you fulfill the requirements. Is there any truth to that?
That’s my assumption for what it should be, but I never went through this so I can’t comment on whether or not such means guaranteed transfer admission. When it comes to transferring, usually your high school records no longer matter. If you can prove that you have the potential to be a good college student, then they will seriously consider you.
My thought (but again, I don’t know for sure) is that it could possibly depend on how many people take advantage of this option as well as the turnover rate for this year’s freshman class. This past cycle too many people accepted a spot in the freshman class, thus the turnover rate could determine how many spots open up.
How did you fall semester grades look? You met the requirement, right?
yea i met the requirements my GPA was above a 3.0 as well as all my classes are transferrable to umich and I took 12-15 credits for both semesters. Idk im just skeptical if it really is guaranteed or not because they have no information about it and apparently this is the first time umich has done this
I was also offered this and no longer plan on using it. When I toured the campus over the summer, I talked with an advisor and she answered my question on if it’s binding or not if I submit my info and change my mind (it’s not).
I thought it was odd that they used a Google Form but it’s definitely legit and guaranteed. You should probably call them, but if it was only a few weeks ago, they probably haven’t gotten to it yet because of winter break.
@Jamesesesess ok so im a little confused about calling them again for what because they sent me the google form which i filled out then i sent my HS transcripts and college transcript so Im basically waiting for my decision but should i call them again just to have an update?
