Transfer or stay at CC another year?

I have a 4.0 with 36 credits. Working on 21 more this semester, but I'd still have three more classes to get my AA. Thing is, to enter a transfer school as a junior, I'd have to finish everything this semester. I don't really want to enter as a sophomore, and at one of the schools I'm applying to (UCSC), I have to have at least 60 hours.

Staying another year would allow me more time to make up for a bad record at another school and four Ws. I could also get some ECs, which I'm sure will only help me. I'd get to work on my foreign language classes and save myself a few credits at another, more expensive school.

The problem with that is simply that I don't want to put off finishing school for any longer than I have to. I'd just apply for spring, but I need as much aid as I can get, and I don't see it happening then.

Any thoughts?

I agree that you should stay and get your AA. You would look better applying with that. Your GPA is excellent but that 4w’s will raise some eyebrows unless you have retaken every single of that class that you withdrew from and got a good grade on it. Not to mention that you will also be saving money.

I am actually in a similar situation as you. Have completed about 40+ credits but decide to spend 2 more semesters. I will transfer for spring 2012 where I will get my AA before then and completed about 60-70 credits(50-60 will transfer).

I’m going to call some schools in the morning and check out other options, but it’s very possible that I’ll go ahead and stay another year. I’ll have nearly 80 credits, but at least most of them will transfer. As for the W’s, I’m retaking all but one of the classes before I’m done.
