Transfer out of Wellesley

I'm currently a firstyear at Wellesley College and I want to leave. I really hate it here. There isn't one reason that I want to leave but a bunch of smaller ones. I miss my young siblings (very young!) and I don't like the constricting feel of an all women's college. The idea that you have to go to MIT Frat parties to meet boys is disconcerting. I can keep up academically with the school and love the city, but am often homesick and just don't feel like the school is a "fit". Would it be beneficial for me to transfer? If I transferred to my state school (UMaine) would I be any happier? If I transferred to just another coed school would I like it more? Bennington College in VT is further away, but I feel that it is a better fit. I would also consider the Maine LACs. I feel that if I transfer to my state school it would be transferring down and not fulfilling my potential-- however they do have an animal science program that I am interested in. What would be a good choice for me? Should I even attept to transfer?

Have you visited any of the other colleges? As long as you're absolutely sure that you want to leave and that the other schools are truly better fits, I think you should go ahead and apply. Good luck. :)

Bowdoin would be great although its hard to transfer there. Might be worth a try. My daughter, a fellow Mainer, is going to transfer to UVA in January. That is also an awesome place.
