I was suspended in high school during senior year and subsequently rescinded admission at USC last year. I am wrapping up my first year of Junior College and am considering applying again to USC.

Will my high school suspension (for computer violations) kill my chances for admission, even though I have 2300 on SAT, National Merit, and 4.0 GPA at Community College with honors classes? (And good essays)? Is it still a possibility to get in?

My HS Grades are up and down... like 3.5 average unwtd. Does that even matter if i have more than 30 credits at community college?

Just curious and I wanted to make sure I understood you correctly- you were admitted to USC last year and your offer of admission was rescinded after the suspension? How did they find out?

According to your posting history, you were also recinded (as a freshman applicant???) from UCB and USC THIS year for copying on a test, misreporting grades and mistakes on your applications? And you are finishing your first year at a community college? Then you say you might be transferring high schools. That is too confusing to even offer advice about.

How awful for her parents - to have one sister rescinded from USC last year for “computer violations,” another rescinded this year from both USC and UCB for copying on a test and mis-reporting grades…

Maybe karens is planning on attending community college and doing well and wonders if that will help. (It would be perfectly fine to ask that.) Yes, doing your very best in community college will improve your chances. Displaying the highest level of integrity in all areas of your life from here forward will also help. Best of luck.

karens - As I read this, my initial feeling was that cc411’s response would possibly be helpful to you as a response to the question you posted, and that taking the time to research your past posts to look for inconsistencies would not. I hoped perhaps you would focus on the information provided on how to get your act together and maybe actually qualify to transfer. You’re correct in that the situation you described is serious. . . getting an admittance offer rescinded is a major screw up! I’d hoped maybe you’d learned something and matured.

I admit, I am amused sometimes with the “Sherlock Holms” responses, where a response is posted by gathering information from other posts in a seeming attempt to show how clever the responder can be. However, your attitude and childish cursing is proving alamemom pretty much “had your number” from the start and is more astute than me at identifying possible insincere posts.

You need to grow up and take your opportunites serioulsy. You only get so mancy chances in life… and you’re wasting them again. Your responses to this thread are displaying, yet again, your tendancy to act before you think. Stop it!

I agree with doame and alamemom. However USC found out, your hs admin was not doing anything to spite you. Part of the admission to USC and they do state it, is they require final transcripts. Maybe the hs admin put it on the transcript or were required to notify USC, but it was not to spite you. Part of the growing up process is to understand that. Your posts here with the sarcasm shows you haveyet to grow up and take your opportunities seriously. The responses were to give you advice and also wished you luck. Take the advice into consideration and appreciated the wishes for good luck. Can the sarcasm.

For context- Sunday evening, May 10, OP posted a comment on this thread containing offensive language. It was, thankfully, deleted by a moderator today, Monday, May 11. Another earlier post was also modified to change offensive language.

karens- I really do wish you the best of luck. I would go ahead and apply to USC to give yourself the most choices possible. People here really do want to help so don’t discount those opinions that may sound harsh. You do sound like a bright kid so put together a great app and resume and go for it!
