I have applied to Clemson as an OOS Transfer and had some questions on being selected. I am older than most applicant's (26) because out of High School I served in the Army for 8 years. I have completed my freshman year (33 hrs)at Austin Peay State University with a 3.7 GPA.

I am just wondering what my chances are, and if my age will have any bearing. I put in my admissions essay that I served out of high school and that was the reason for being older.
Thanks for the help guys!

it really depends on what major you applied to. I doubt age has any bearing. I know tons of “older-looking” people that I’ve seen in classes. Your GPA looks great but some majors are tougher than others to get into.

Thanks Pierre! I applied for Engineering as my primary and Geology as my secondary. Any insight into the difficulty of acceptance to these?

Engineering is a huge program so there should be plenty of spots for transfer students so you have a good shot at that. Not sure about geology but I’m also sure it’s not as selective as other majors for transfer students.

Good luck!
