Transfer Question

Hey everyone, so right now I'm at Carthage College in Wisconsin. I'm from Michigan and everyone in my family has gone to MSU, probably 10-15 people in the past two generations of it, and I didn't do anything in high school so I ended up with a 2.7 GPA and a rejection letter from MSU. I came here (Carthage) because I visited and liked it and I also wanted to play NCAA lacrosse, but after being here for a few weeks it's too small and too far from home for now. So I've been thinking about transferring at the semester. I looked at MSU's website and they do allow winter transfers with less than 30 credits, but I'm going to guess they look at high school grades because I'll only have 16 credits at the end of the semester, which could hurt me. So does anyone know what kind of GPA I should shoot for here in my first semester to have a legit chance of being accepted at MSU for the winter 2009 term? Is it harder or more competitive to be accepted for the winter than it would be for the fall? Thanks in advance.

Try for a 4.0, or at least a 3.5. If you can prove to them that you're really willing to work hard then they will let you in. However, if you get rejected then just get really good grades and apply in fall 2009.

I'm not sure if it's more competitive at any time though.

Alright, thanks. Should I send in my application soon then, like within the next couple of weeks?
