Transfer Questions

Hi, I'm a freshman applying to transfer to a few colleges to start in Fall 2013 and I have a few questions.

1) For Northeastern, I know that sophomores are required to live on campus, but i think there is a waiver to request to live off campus. If on the common app I chose "Live off campus- with parent" will the admissions officers look at this and automatically reject me since sophomores are required to live on campus?

2) A few of the colleges i'm applying to require 2 recommendations and the rest require 1. Would it be bad if i just sent 2 recommendations to all the colleges i'm applying to in order to minimize confusion with my professors?

3) If i already applied to (and was rejected by) some of the colleges I'm applying to as a senior in high school (e.g. BU, Northeastern) do I still have to send in my high school transcript?

4) On tuft's website it says that i should type up a document with all the course descriptions of the courses I'm taking this year, is anyone familiar with this?

5) When exactly can i ask my teachers to fill out the mid-term report? I start my spring semester next monday. Should i ask them to fill it out after like a week or should i wait until the end of february? The reason i ask this is that the deadline for the applications is around March 1. Would it impact my application negitively if the mid-term report arrives in the admissions offices later than that?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance for your replies.

Call/email NEU and ask.

Generally, 1 supplemental LOR is not a problem. However, it might still be confusing as you need to designate which is your required and which is your supplemental. Why not just give the full complement of colleges to one prof and the lesser number to the other?

That depends on the school, some keep previous apps & supporting documents, others don’t. You need to call/email and ask, don’t assume they will have them.

A week is way too soon, you should wait until the prof has some indication of your grade. If not stated on the college website, call/email the schools and ask when it should be sent.
