I am currently a freshman majoring in Engineering at the University of Rochester. I am applying to transfer to the School of Engineering at Yale University for Fall 2014. On the other side, I am also very interested in voice performance. However, I am not quite sure about double majoring or minoring in voice performance yet. Does the Music Department or the School of Music offer minor degree for voice performance? Or does Yale offer dual degree program for transfer students as well? My plan at this point is to get a minor degree. If I feel that the workload is manageable, will I be able to make voice as my second major without reapplying to the Music Department or the School of Music (or else I would be 2 years off maybe even more)? If I got accepted to the engineering school fortunately, will I have access to the courses that the music department or the school of music offers, such as private lessons with voice faculties (I don't mind paying extra fees.)? I really appreciate your reply! Thank you!!!

T26E4 is correct. Yale’s School of Music is mainly a graduate school offering Masters and Doctorates…

…if you are attending Rochester…you should be looking at Eastman (which is next door) for a more realistic chance of combining engineering and vocal performance…

Rochester’s engineering school is way better than Yale’s. If you want to go to Yale for reasons other than engineering, then go ahead. Otherwise, stay at Rochester.
