I am strongly considering transferring for this Spring (I'll be a first semester sophomore starting then) and had a few questions:

Say I do apply for transfer for the Spring. Will they wait until the Fall semester is over to make a decision or no? If not, I'm likely going to wait until Summer or Fall '10 to transfer.

Where should I stay, on campus or off? I tend to get a little reserved when I'm outside of my comfort zones, so how easy is it to get introduced to the social/party scene, even if you have roomates who have different interests than you?

That's pretty much it, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

So I’d be better off waiting until the Fall semester was over to apply?

And I’ll be a first semester Sophomore for the Spring, so I didn’t know whether staying on campus or off would be best as far as getting introduced to the social/party scene.

Also, what GPA do you think I’d need to get in? Would a 2.5-2.7 after 11 total classes be good?

You would be better off staying ON campus coming in as a sophomore and not already having established a niche/group of friends. The Towers, while expensive, always seems to have space for transfers. By being in the dorm, you have access to the floor RA’s for logistical help and it is much easier to not need to drive to class (looking for parking before class can be a nightmare).

Your college GPA seems very low though for admission. I do not know much about transfer admissions though. You should peruse the website for its transfer standards.

Not that I’m a fan of college parties, but dorms aren’t usually the place that UCF students have parties. Parties usually occur in off-campus apartments or local clubs. There are “bus trips” practically every night from the campus to surrounding area clubs for parties for those 18 and older, which is a good idea, discourages kids from driving, even those that have cars take the bus. At 18, you are allowed into clubs but not allowed to drink alchohol. Alot of kids on campus have cars and everyone is so friendly, so be friendly in return and you are bound to meet people who can take you on trips with them to the store, etc.

Definately stay on campus your first year to familiarize yourself with the campus and it’s surroundings.

Hmm, I see. I know they have a bunch of clubs but wasn’t sure if those clubs “accidentally” served to those younger than 21, as I’ve heard that is a common occurrence at some campuses.

Another set of questions:

Should I even bother if my GPA is in the 2.4-2.7 range?

Do they offer shuttles to, say, Universal Studios, or downtown if I wanted to see a Magic game?
