I really have no idea where i stand in the transfer admissions process. I would appreciate some insight.
These are my stats:
Class Rank - defintely top 10%, most likely top 5%
3.7 GPA from a tough canadian university (1 year)

HS
Class Rank - 10/410
90% Senior year (the year that counts in canada)
85% Junior year
3.0, 4.0 weighted gpa in preIB (US school)
72% freshman year

Havent taken the SAT and i dont plan to. I will only apply to schools that allow me to omit scores....Brown, Cornell, and Emory have agreed. Just disregard SAT's at this point.

ECs -
College - Pres + Founder of Canadian-American Alliance, Model UN, Model Parliament, Oxfam, Intl Affairs Association, 100 hours of volunteering, weightlifting, volunteer at United Nations - Toronto + regional hospital

High School - a few JV sports, varsity football, Pres history club, Model UN, amnesty international, 200 hours of volunteering, weightlifting
HS awards - graduated Summa Cum Laude, Philosophy Award, History Award, Ontario Scholar, Veterans poetry contest

My transfer reason is that I feel my current institution does not provide adequate resources etc and i would like to gain acceptance into a school that caters better to my poli sci major.

My goal is the top 25 but favorites include the afformentioned uni's as well as gtown, tufts.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuump

I don't think people are sure what your question is exactly.

my question is in my title

im looking for safeties, matches, and reaches, thanks

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump

wow come on guys. I would really jus like to know what my best possible safeties are.

You might get more responses with the "What Are My Chances?" Board.

lol i tried that one too.

Im just unsure about my GPA ranges because sources such as collegeboard, princetonreview dont provide transfer gpa ranges etc (however, some specific school websites say above 3.5 etc).

I'm sorry :(

The only other thing I could suggest is that maybe you could call the admissions and ask what they like to see in transfer applicants. They might tell you what standardized test scores and GPA are acceptable...it's worth a try. Good luck.

I know some great transfer schools similar to the ones you've listed..UChicago, UPenn, Northwestern, UNC-Chapel Hill, but I have no idea if they require SAT scores...

ok thank you.

does anyone know a safety or two? Because I can take a stab at the schools that I know will be reaches but I would like to know the schools that I have a safe shot at.

also, alot of the top schools actually do want SATs but some have told me theyd waive them for internationals such as myself (brown, emory).

I don't know much about transferring for international students but from the few that I have talked to, they all seem to say that it is a LOT harder than transferring for U.S. students. With fewer slots, the competition may be that much tougher..therefore I don't know if any top school (since that's where you seem to be aiming) can really be considered a safety. You might want to look into schools that just accept a lot of transfers. I think NYU does...but I can't be sure.

i happen to be a dual-citizen american so i wont have the disadvantages of a typical international applicant.
