Transfer School Advice

I'm looking to transfer to an academically challenging, east-coast LAC. I'm definitely applying to Smith College--I was accepted there as a freshman and loved the school. I will also probably apply to Swarthmore, and maybe Williams.

Does anyone have suggestions about other east-coast schools that are similar to the ones mentioned above? And also, if anyone has actually transferred into any of these schools, any advice?

some good East coast LAC's are Amherst (MA), Vassar (NY), Bowdoin (Maine), Middlebury (VT) Haverford (PA)

All are really good schools, but if you have the grades for Williams/Swarthmore you probably can get in. good luck

Hi,

You'd better double check to see which of these schools accept transfers. My understanding is that Swarthmore does not take transfer students.

heartbreakmom, Swarthmore does accept transfer students.

Bryn Mawr, MHC
BMC and Swarthmore have co-program

Smith & Swarthmore, in my opinion, would attract very different students than Williams. Are you looking for a very, liberal campus culture (Smith & Swarthmore) or a more mainstream preppy, athletic campus culture (Williams & Dartmouth)?

Swarthmore does accept transfers. Also, students enrolled at Swarthmore can take courses at Penn, Haverford, and Bryn Mawr College. It's one of my top choices.

Cold Wind, I loved Smith and Swarthmore, so if there are other schools similar to those that people would reccommend I look into, that would be great.

I was thinking of applying to Williams because I was accepted there as a freshman, and because it's a top school academically on the east coast. I didn't spend much time on campus there, however, so thanks for the heads-up on the difference in campus culture.
