Transfer Statistics for Brown

Hey all,

I’ve read in a few places that Brown admits about 25% of transfer applicants, roughly 200 out of 800 applicants, each year. Does anyone know what those admitted usually have in terms of GPA and SAT? Is there any place to look up stats of transfer students?

I’ve read that you should have at least 3.7 to be a strong candidate. I myself am applying to transfer to Brown from the University of Southern California and have a 3.85 for first semester, though my GPA in boarding school was 3.5. I hope that I’m in range, but I don’t know.

Anyone who has been admitted as a transfer student in the past, if you could post a few of your stats from when you were admitted, that would be great. And if anyone has a good idea of what it takes academically to be admitted as a transfer, please give me some idea. Thanks!

I'll let you know in a week

They say they matriculate about 150-200 transfers out of 700-800 applicants yearly, so yes, that seems to be about 25%.

HOWEVER!! you have to consider that not everyone who is accepted (especially if you are Brown caliber to begin with) is going to go there because they might choose to go to stanford instead, or something. So the acceptance rate MUST be higher than #transfers/#applicants.

I'm guessing 35% or something. However, i think applications will be up this year. That's my hunch, so I think it'll go down

Another big factor is financial aid. You have a much lower chance of getting in if you apply for aid because of hte limited budget

maize -- isn't it two weeks?!

I thought it said we would hear by May 15th at the latest, not they would be sent the 15th.

But, yeah, it's a week +change.

eh, i dunno. i dont think it will come on time, anyways
