Transfer Stats

I was placed on Georgetown's wait-list and if I'm not accepted off the WL, I might transfer to Georgetown. If you're an accepted transfer student at Georgetown, please post your stats or any advice. Thanks.

Average college GPA of transfers? Anyone?

I havent heard anything from G-Town SFS yet, but here are my general stats:

UC Irvine
3.78
1280 SAT
President of Undergrad Business Association
Intern Make a Wish Foundation
etc... etc...

All the other schools I applied to have contacted me and all were acceptances so im really hoping Georgetown comes through - oye, I hope they hurry up.

What other schools did you apply to Outono?

UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, NYU, Boston University

nice! I guess even if you dont get into g-town you're pretty much set

Well, all of those schools are awesome, but none of them have the IR expertise that Georgetown has. Plus, Im an Econ major for Berkeley, an Econ/International Studies major for UCLA, and the same for UCSD. BU I got into the IR program, but its nothing compared to the honors program for IR and NYU. So NYU is the best choice now (I cant stand Econ anymore - oye), but Georgetown would be so much better! :)

What about you guys? Stats, schools accepted, where ya from?

Does GT release data on GPAs of accepted transfer students?

Not specifics - they say at least a B avg. But from what ive read and from what I hear, it seems you have the best chance with a 3.7 and up, but GPA is only one part of the whole thing so meh.

Average was a 3.7 for transfer admitees.

yeah no doubt

Green09. was that for this year? Where did you get that stat?

Last year. Statistic directly from Georgetown rep.

Other than GPA and letters of recommendation, what else is taken into consideration for admission?

I actually just got my Transfer Acceptance on the 8th of May. (college) Oh so excited.

I made the extended waiting list as a Senior in high school eventually defeated by lack of attrition.

My stats weren't amazing by any means, I really felt an emphasis on essays because thats the only way I had any chance.

SAT's- 640 math 660 verbal (less than 620 on all SAT II's)
UofA 05/06- 3.85

I remember the agony of that wait... but hang in there, your letter will come and I wish you the best.

I was admitted as a trasnfer student on May 5th (MSB). My stats were not good at all. I applied after only 1 semester at college.

Valparaiso University - Valparaiso, IN
1st Semester GPA 3.606
ACT 29
SAT's were horrible so I never sent them in
HS GPA 3.3868 / 3.8585 (weighted)
1 Teacher REcommendation from a Statistics Teacher
I hadn't taken any business courses
AP Calc BC 4
AP Statistics 4

I think what got me in was my essay. I showed interest in the school and I explained why I wanted to transfer out of Valparaiso. I also showed motivation for success and an outgoing personality in my essay. The acceptance letter said that out of over 1,500 transfer candidates approximately only 200 spaces were given out. I was surprisngly shocked when I got home from my first year of college, two weeks after the letter arrived at my house, to find out that I had gotten in. Up until that point, I wasn't even thinking about transfering. Know I am undecided. While I have made really good friends at Valpo, the opportunities at Georgetown are amazing. I just don't know what to do.

Non-traditional slightly older-than-college-age student at a florida community college Honors program.

Had messed up childhood, didn't complete high school, got GED
1380 on SATs (780 V, 600 M) before starting at community college; that's how i got into honors program since i didn't have a GPA obviously

4.0 in Honors Program - general ed courses, targeting a Poli Sci BA when I transfer, with a side of Econ depending on how many semesters of aid i get
Awesome Prof Reccs
Have been living with/ taking care of elderly relative (duty to fall to other family member when i go off to school)
