Hi, I am a student at the University of Dayton and in the school of business. I have a 3.2 GPA, and close to 45-50 credits by the end of this semester. I was wondering what my chances were of getting in. I was rejected when I applied after high school.

Thanks,

Wow, you’re like the fifth person I know who is transferring from U of D…must be an awful school. Anyways, I had a friend apply last year as a transfer, with only like 30 credits and under a 3.0 GPA, and she got in. Transferring to OSU is much easier than getting in from high school. Their admission standards are getting tougher, though. Trying to compete more with UofM on an academic level. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll get in.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I know that Ohio State’s acceptance rate is inflated from all the satellite campuses, but I just wanted some more confidence. U of D isn’t a bad school by any means, I commute there so, maybe that is one of the factors. The faculty is excellent, but the people who go there are party people and I just don’t fit that.

bump

The one thing to note is that if you intend on majoring in business at Ohio State, your GPA must be high enough to get into the major you want. You are probably able to get into some of the business majors with a 3.2, but you would need a higher GPA to get into finance or accounting (last time I checked maybe a 3.4 or 3.5?). Most students apply after their freshman year, and start taking business classes their sophomore year, so you may be a semester or so behind.

OSU does have an excellent business program, especially with regard to our career services and the opportunities we have to interview for internships and full-time positions.

I think I will be able to get into marketing.

I think you have a great shot! I was accepted as a transfer from a community college with a 2.5 gpa!

Really! Awesome! Did you also just send your transcript as well?

I’m applying as a transfer for fall 2013, and I’m not sure if I’ll get in since I’m an out of state student. I’m at a community college in Texas and by the end of the fall I’ll have 30 completed hours with my GPA being either 3.7 or 3.6. I have great extra curricular activities, and pretty good essays, but if my high school transcript and sat scores come into play, I think that’ll definitely ruin my chances. What do you guys think?
