I will be graduating applying to transfer with a 3.8+ UC-GPA and 3.7+ Overall GPA. I spent four semesters getting W’S, getting F’S, and then I got sick when I started to take school seriously and racked up a couple more F’s. I repeated the courses and got one forgiven through grade forgiveness to bring me up to where I am. I take 18 units(6 classes) a semester and have a big upward trajectory and am now an honors student. And work as a property manager 20 hrs a week. I am a hispanic student, california community college, philosophy major. I had major testing disabilities that took me years to overcome, so no SAT scores, but my high school took everyone to Top 20 schools and I did a 4.0 there, they don’t look at high school after 60 credits though, I don’t believe.
I am wondering, I explain in my letters the first years of screwing up, how much those years will cost me. As a philosophy student, I know i look fairly competitive GPA wise, but have a heavy history.
For schools that are looking, like UCB, CORNELL, UCLA, USC, etc. What caliber am I looking at?
I want something honest, because I might just take my current credits and go to a cal state and graduate next year with some liberal arts degree. However, if there is a chance they’ll take my earlier situation with charity, I would like to stay in the game.
Thank you,
