Transfer Student Experience

I'm a sophomore looking to transfer to Mizzou (University of Missouri-Columbia) this coming spring 2012. This is going to be my second time transferring so I'm pretty nervous. I haven't really had the chance to experience a "normal college life", so I'm hoping that Mizzou will be better. I'm hoping to double major in Biology and Journalism. I was also accepted into the Honors program.

Can anyone share their experience at Mizzou as a transfer student? Is it pretty easy to get involved and make friends as a transfer? What are my chances of getting into a dorm? (I heard the dorms are pretty crowded this year. I really want to get in a dorm though!) If I do have to live in an apartment, how much does this differ from dorm life?

What is the social atmosphere generally like? Are people pretty similar or diverse? I'm a little shy but I'm hoping to find some people that are down to earth and honest.

Any advice/recommendations at all will be greatly appreciated! :)

Also post this on the Mizzou forum, you are likely to get additional responses there.
