Hi Im going to UCSC next fall as a transfer student, currently I am a lit major but I want to change to Enviornmental studies. The problem is I have little of its prerequisites done to get into upperclassman classes. Will they still allow me to change it, I don't mind staying an extra semester or year if I have to finish the pre reqs there. I actually already changed it in the MyUCSC portal. But I don't know if it will stand once they see that I don't have the pre reqs done.

Since UCSC students enter with only proposed majors (including transfers), yes, you can change your major quite easily. Just speak to the department to ask what you need to do to declare.

Side note: Transfers must declare their major by the end of their second quarter in residence at UCSC. Declarations are done by meeting with your department’s advisor.
