Transfer student for Fall 2012

Hi everyone! This is my first thread on CC so I was hoping that everybody could help me out. The situation is this: I'm currently a freshmen at University of Hartford in CT but due in part to the location and scene here, I'm looking to transfer closer to home (upstate NY). I would like to major in English, focusing on the Creative Writing aspect of this field. I am an honors student at UHart and have both AP and IB credits from high school. My high school stats look something like this: top 5% in my graduating class (~360 students), SAT Reading: 610, SAT Math: 640, SAT Writing: 610.

I'm looking for a medium to large school with a strong English program, preferably in NY. I am looking at schools with and without the Tuition Exchange Scholarship opportunity. Can anyone throw some good names out there for me? SUNY or not, public or private, I just need some help.

I've looked at Duquesene, Syracuse, Ithaca, Union, and SUNY Binghamton. Keeping an open mind though, thanks!

Have to bump, really looking into Syracuse right now for the Tuition Exchange scholarship. Perhaps some insight on the writing program there or anywhere else in NY.

I go to Syracuse and I am doing the exact opposite as you. I am looking to transfer closer to home in Connecticut. But its a great school just not for me. Great campus, great party scene, great academic scene, and just all over a great school. Only issue is the tuition. But if you can afford it go for it!

Wow that’s crazy! Haha but yeah hopefully I would receive Tuition Exchange benefits which would cover tuition. Do you know much about the Writing major there? I’m interested in possibly dual enrollment in the Arts and Sciences school and then Newhouse…
