In high school, I graduated with a 2.5 or 2.6 it was pretty bad. There were alot of outside factors at play in my high school life that clashed into my college life. I did get into two schools but I decided to go to community college to save money and really decided what I want to do with my life. While at community college my first two semesters were a disaster. I didn't care about anything because of the backlash of my personal life. I also had to take a year off to work to save money ( I come from a low income family).

These past semesters I was able to redeem myself and get myself off progress probation and almost hit a 3.0(I'm at a 2.8 that's kind of close lol I think , I'm also going to take 2 classes over to replace the grades that were C's)

I've decided that I want to become a Museum curator and I've always wanted to get my PHD regardless of what field I choose. (both my grandparents have theirs and were also Profs.)

I did notice that my SAT and ACT scores were low and the schools that I'm shooting for have a higher SAT and ACT grading as well that I should have a GPA around a 3.5.

As a transfer student from a community college what are somethings I should be doing or expecting or myself when i get ready to transfer. I'm looking at schools with solid Art history programs such as Smith.

I have a few extra curriculars with my school and on my own. I've received my make-up artistry certificate and am considered a freelance Make-up artist and Blogger. I've done volunteering and I'm currently trying to get an internship.

Should I retake the SAT and ACT?

I'm considered a sophomore atm so I'm unsure if they would still weigh heavily on my highschool transcript.

Would they see it as self improvement or should I also send along a letter explaining what happened in my personal life (ex: 4 people passing away within 2 yrs that are close family members, money issues for traveling to school etc)
