Transfer student Housing options?

I have the options of Second Street, Coral, Carlyle, and Greenwich.... Which is the best? :3

Hey there! Haha

I found this a while ago while searching google about NYU dorms. It is definitely a good read. It has frosh and upper dorms and info from NYU students with pros and cons.

[Guide To NYU Dorms 2011 · NYU Local](http://nyulocal.com/tag/guide-to-nyu-dorms-2011/)

Thanks Lauren :)! Crossing my fingers for you still :)

Thanks, me too! My fingers may stay permanently crossed at this point, haha.

Haha! Well, you can do it! What location would you chose out of those four? I’m thinking Carlyle or Greenwich… the other two sound not so good lol XD

In order, I think Coral, Greenwich, Carlyle, 2nd…

I’d do Coral, Carlyle, 2nd, Greenwich. And pray that I don’t get Greenwich. It is so far down and too west.

I signed up for Carlyle, Greenwich, Coral, and then 2nd… 2nd sounds really scary… and not so nice… Greenwich sounds nice… with a maid service… cause I hate cleaning lol. Carlyle sounded pretty decent, and Greenwich seems like a fun time… but ahhhh idk… I can’t decideee ><"

Switched to Coral first… ahhhh… Idkkkk lol

Yeah, there are pros and cons to all of these dorms… The only dorms that don’t seem to have many cons are Gramercy (distance) and 7th (eco-friendly), 13th and Broome. Unfortunately, as transfers, those aren’t options for us.

I like Greenwich… But there is something about the common areas that seems too sparce (not that they make a big difference because you’d probably never be there)… Also, the distance from a good subway line sucks but isn’t bad for that area per say, but I would like to be close to a lesser expensive supermarket… That would get old fast and my bank account would cry a lot.

I would probably like 2nd street the most if it wasn’t located in that exact place… Seriously, I would be terrified if I walked back there alone at night and I would want to be closer to school if I was going to live in a dorm (unless it was Gramercy, that is, haha)

The thin walls at Coral suck, but that happens in a lot of NY apartments anyway. The elevator situation stinks, but again, pretty common. Also, the inconsistency of dorms is iffy, but, in my mind, not the biggest deal. I feel like this is everywhere. All these issues are so common in so many places that I can’t find them to be big faults.

The outdoor part of Carlyle is awesome. Coral and Carlyle are almost tied for me. Both have good subway lines near them. The only thing I like more about Coral is how close it is to the other dorms/NYU based things. At the same time though, it may get annoying being around so many students, but same tokien, you would be around students, not just Manhattanites.

My preferred order is still the same, haha.

Wait! I lied! Coral, Carlyle, Greenwich, 2nd… How did I mess up my original order? I’m going brain-dead. Sorry!

These are the rooms in Coral… If you can select one of the good ones later on and not get an itty bitty one…

http://nyuhousing.wikispaces.com/Coral+Towers

Ahhhh ok… I gotcha. Hmmm… hmm… hmm… Thanks for the information. I’d prefer coral I think… just cause it is close to palladium gym and a dining hall? At least, that is what one of the thigns i read said. I figured I could do a little bit of a meal plan, and then just cook for myself the rest of the time. :3

Coral apparently has a decent kitchen size, so that’ll definitely work.

Don’t count on one of the roomier rooms at Coral. My D had room sign-up the third or fourth day and all the roomier ones were already taken…and some of the smaller rooms are really, really small.
