I was just rejected by most of my dream schools with Berkeley being my top. I've decided to go to Mt. San Jacinto College for two years and transfer to the Haas School of Business at the end of my sophomore year. I've selected 16 classes, including all the prereqs and one course in each of the breadth requirements, and the foreign language requirement. I'm just really confused when I go onto assist which is helping me choose my courses it says the "Business Administration, Lower Division B.S." I am not sure what the difference is between Lower and Upper division and if I am doing the right prereqs and breadth courses to get into the Haas school of Business as a junior transfer from a ccc.

Also would it be beneficial for me to take as many honors courses as possible or just take regular courses and try to maintain a 4.0 GPA

Help please!!!

Lower division classes are the classes you will take at you CC, freshman and sophomore level class. Upper division classes are the ones only available at 4 year institutions. As for the honors classes vs. regular classes, I’m sure some people would disagree with me but I would say go for the regular classes. Unless you feel confident you can get an A in the honors courses.

Take anything that would give you an edge. Haas only accepts 90 transfers per year, I’ve known people get in with 3.8 and rejected with 4.0’s. It’s not all about GPA, but they did have outstanding E.C’s, Job experience, and internships. Honors would help you get into UCLA w/ TAP, and honors give priority registration. Personally, I don’t feel honors classes are that challenging— The benefits definitely outweigh the costs.
