How much does honor courses help the possibility of transfer?

Hi, everyone. I am a freshman business major student in CCSF.

Recently, I learned about the information of honor courses and that we can apply UCLA TAP with 15 honor credits. Then, I asked my Calculus teacher whether she does honor course for students. She said OK. However, I am worrying about the honor program will be too much burden for me, so I really need some advice from those who have done Honor Calculus class.
Will the teacher grade me harsher if I do honor program?
And what if I couldn't finish the honor work or I don't do it well?
What exactly do I need to do?
By the way, my goal for transfer is Haas business school. I know it is highly competitive, so I suppose honor credits may help me stand out a bit. But as a business student , how much does a Calculus Honor course help?

I am not sure if I should try to do more honor course or I should just focus on the course and try to ace it.

Thank you for reading this long and unorganized question, any advice will be great help !!

Generally speaking, honors classes are harder than the regular section. But if you can’t handle honors classes, you will not be able to handle UC. I am a Business major at UC Riverside and I never completed the honors program but I did complete a few honors classes. Haas prefers you to have work experience and extracurriculars/good values stated in your essay. Everyone who applies to Haas will have good grades. I never applied for Haas but I got into Political Economy at Berkeley with a 4.0. If you’re worried about admission into Haas, consider UCR as a back up. We have a good business program too and really consider UCR if you want to do accounting and become a CPA.

Another thing, If you’re looking into Business Econ at UCLA, being TAP certified doesn’t help as much since Bus Econ is an impacted major. TAP really helps for those non impacted majors at UCLA. You should rather aim for a 4.0 w/o TAP than a 3.7 with TAP

Honestly, unless your dream school is UCLA - don’t do honors courses. Sometimes the honors courses can be filled with great professors who teach in a valuable seminar-style with excellent critical thinking engagements. However, the other times the professor can be brutal and believe they need to be harsher graders for honors classes. If you get all A’s in honors courses, then that’s great - it will be a challenge. On the other hand, if you get mostly all A’s but a FEW B’s - that will affect your GPA ridiculously and you won’t be competitive for Haas Business School.

Honors classes are mostly just for the TAP program at UCLA. If you want to go there, great do it. If you want to go to Berkeley, I say focus more on earning a higher GPA and good extracurriculars/experience.
