I’m a second year student at a reputable community college in upstate New York interested in transferring this upcoming year.
College Standing:
- About 55 college credits
- GPA: ~3.5 (which will be higher once final grades from this semester have been submitted)
- A TON of extracurriculars (volunteering/sports/jobs/internship)
- A pretty excellent essay, which mentioned that I had a brain tumor so maybe that’ll strike some sympathy in admissions counselors? Haha
- Dean’s List multiple semesters (and will be for Spring 2016 semester as well).
High School:
- SAT: 1880/2400.
- ECs include two varsity sports, volunteer work, clubs, and outside job
My high school GPA wasn’t great, but I talked to an admissions counselor who said that since I’ve been out of high school for a significant amount of time (graduated 2 years ago), they will weigh their decision more heavily on my collegiate courses instead.
I know this is probably a stretch, but what do you guys think my chances would be of getting into Tulane or NYU?
