Transfer Students - What about your "transfer GPA?"

USC and NYU are my top two choices for transfer. I posted a similar thread over in the NYU forum and everyone seems to think I stand an excellent chance for admission, but USC has a certain policy which poses a problem...

USC apparently determines a "transfer GPA" for its transfer students. I had a lot of problems being in and out of college for my first few years after graduation.

I am applying to the Music Industry program at Thornton, and during my first few years following High School, I would not finish classes in order to take jobs managing tours and running sound for several large bands. This has left quite a checkered academic record from one of my attended institutions. It is not all bad; some semesters contain very high grades, but others contain withdrawls, no grade given, and even some failing grades.

Within the last year I have realized exactly what specific path I want, and what I need to do to be successful in this part of the industry. As a result I have dropped everything in my career to return to school. Since re-enrolling I have consistantly received a 4.0 gpa with a very rigourus academic load. I am about to finish my associates after the fall semester.

USC's program is exactly what I am looking for, but I am nervous that my former grades, provided I am admitted, will put my GPA into such disrepair that I will stand little chance of being admitted to a top law school (I am looking to go into Entertainment Law).

Would any of you think that I even stand a chance of being admitted, and if so, is there anything I can do about this policy or is it really not a huge deal? I am sure I am not the only person who has been in this situation.

Any advice is very much appreciated!
