Transfer students

So I am probebly going to attend here unless UCLA accepts me then ill be in a dillema... but anywho, how do you think life is as a transfer? will I make good friends? I'm really scared that everyone will have friends and their own cliques already and won't accept new people...am I just worrying too much? because i am really anxcious about meeting new people and starting a "new" life.

it is harder as a xfer student because you'll be around people who started together as frosh 2 years ago and have a lot of experiences in common. But that doesn't mean its impossible. I was a xfer student and had a great time! One big key is to get involved. Join some clubs. In another post you asked about the rec center, and if you start going on a regular schedule pretty soon you'll recognize other people who are on the same schedule. If you live in the dorms you'll have an instant social group, and if you live in IV introduce yourself around to your neighbors. As a junior your classes will be smaller so you'll get to know people in your major, don't be reluctant to talk to them, to get together for homework or to study for exams, etc. people at ucsb are pretty friendly in general (maybe its that balmy location on the beach!) so I wouldn't be too worried. And one big advantage ucsb has over other UC schools is that its residential so the people you meet in class and thru activities are going to live right by you instead of spread throughout a city. This is something to consider when comparing ucla and ucsb.

if you're the type of person that likes to socialize and has a good amount of friends, then it's not gonna be any different in the university unless you make it so. just do what you normally do and u'll be fine.

xfer??? ha! that made me stop and think for a few minutes. way to get me confused!
