I'm just curious why do transfer students require lesser GPA to enter university? Why do ppl who graduated from high school need a higher GPA to enter university?
Can anyone kindly provide me with some information?

One factor might be that in HS there are courses that allow a GPA to be over a 4. When transfer students do not have that option.

That’s just my guess.

High school gpas are much more lenient. At a great high school, a 4.0 might put you in the 60th percentile. At college, 60th percentile would rarely be higher than a 3.5.

Bcos it’s relatively easy to earn a B (3.0) in college prep classes in most high schools. It is more difficult to earn a B in college-level courses on a college campus, even a community college.

college is harder? maybe more reputable. and a better indication of how well you will do at your transfer school.
