Transfer supplemental essay length

<p>What is the ideal length of the first transfer essay in the supplemental section of the common app? </p>

<p>I don't want to write to much or not write enough.</p>

<p>I transfered in this past fall and I think mine was a page and a half. Just keep things articulate, yet concise. Say as much possible in the shortest amount of space. Remember admissions officers are reading hundreds of these, best chance you have is to show a unique voice and perspective, grab their attention from the start, and don’t drag on. I got good advice on my essays from my dad, I would have him look at them after he got home from work (and was exhausted), to try to simulate the kind of monotonous journey that admissions officers go through when they read essays. I could tell when he was not that enthused about my work (even though he was trying to be) so I tweeked the essays so that they would grab his attention even though he was dead tired.</p>
