transfer to a film school or stay at rice?

Hey guys. so i'm a rising sophomore at rice university double major in visual arts and mechanical engineer. gpa 3.24/4. rice fits me well, i am having a good time here. however, i really have my passion in art staff but rice has a poor art dept as the engi program is good. and there aren't a lot of opportunities in houston for film major. should i transfer to a university that has better film program and location or should i stay at rice, finish my engi degree?

btw im concerned that my grade is not good enough to transfer to chapman and the others.
and i am an intl student.

thank you guys for the help =D

Wow, Rice is quite an amazing university. I like your plan, but perhaps you shouldn’t be in such a hurry. Consider finishing your undergrad degree where you are, then enrolling in a master’s program in film. I’d think with the academic background you are now pursuing, you may make a good candidate for a master’s film program. In the mean time, is there a filmmaking club at Rice you can join? (or start?) What about summer possibilities? Many film schools offer summer programs related to film and visual arts. This may be a way for you to get an inside look at a place you could go for a masters. Best of luck to you!
