transfer to amherst?

hey all,
i've decided that amherst is my top choice for transferring. i think i read that their admittance rate is around 17%, is that right? here are my stats:

SAT
Math: 790
Reading Comp: 740
Writing: 720

SAT IIs (two needed)
Math2c: 710
Lit: 730

APs
AB Calc: 5
BC Calc: 5
Latin: 4
English Lang: 4
Spanish Lang: 4
English Lit: 3
Spanish Lit: 3
Enviro: 3

currently at a top 20 LAC with the following courses:

intro to microecon
intro to philosophy
intro to literary study
calc 2 (multivariable calc, more than the bc covers)

i understand grades are the biggest factor in admissions decisions. what GPA range would give me a good shot?
Thanks for your help,

Uh -- the highest GPA you can get??

Not sure I understand the question. Would you purposely get a B in one of your courses instead of an A if someone said a 3.75?

what I mean was how low of a GPA will keep me competitive? anything above 3.5 say? say i got a 3.5, how competitive would that make me? that's what i'm asking
