I am a freshman transferring from Salve Regina for the spring semester. I will be double majoring in politics/political science and history. I have been accepted to both Boston University and Mount Holyoke and now I don't know where to go. Does anyone have any advice they can offer from personal experiences with these two schools. I am looking for a strong pre-law advising program so that after completing undergrad, I can be accepted at a top law school such as Yale, Harvard, BU, BC, etc.
Thanks!

Are they equally affordable for you? Law school is ridiculously expensive, so you want to save money for that.

Have you determined anything about their placement for law school?

I’m a huge fan of Mt. Holyoke, and that would be my recommendation. However, the smaller, single-sex environment is not for everyone. If you can visit both, do that. If you can’t, read through the degree requirements for the major(s) you are interested in, and the specific course offerings at both places. Check out the electives that are open to you as well. You might find that you truly prefer one over the other.

I currently attend Boston University as an International Relations major.

The Political Science majors often double major at BU. I’m not pre-law, but there is advising available for it. From my point of view, if you want strong advising, you have to be proactive at it at BU by taking the initiative and checking up with your advisors. BU will help make sure you take the right courses, but otherwise, the rest is up to you.

Also, a note of interest, BU is known for grade deflation, but it hasn’t caused me any pains, yet.
