Transfer to Emory from Georgia Tech

Hey, I am posting my thread again.
People in my school said that if I get 3.0 GPA I would get admitted. They said that it's not that hard to get in Emory from my school.
Is it true (anyone knows ^^)?
My major is international relations. I made a wrong choice by coming to 'tech' school. I want to study in more 'liberal arts' environment.
I am taking 14 and 15 in the next semester.

Q: how hard is it to transfer to Emory?
Q: Does college look at the second semester grade?
Q: Since Emory does 'rolling', is it better to apply as early as possible?

high school stats:
SAT I 1400/1600, 2020/2400
SAT II math I: 740, us: 610, world: 740
GPA: 3.7/4.0
Extra: few awards, clubs

PS. Georgia resident

From what source(s) did they base their opinions off?

I highly doubt that one is guaranteed admittance by having at least a 3.0 GPA at Tech in IR. In fact, I think that the chances are pretty modest for an applicant who has a GPA in the low 3.0s. Admittedly, I don't have any indisputable data to support my assertion, but I do still firmly stand by it. What I can cite, though, is that Emory's minimum GPA requirement is 3.0, which I interpret to mean that it behooves of one to have a GPA much higher than that.

Q1:

In general, transferring into Emory is easy. The difficulty of transferring, though, seems to vary depending on the sex of the applicant. According to the Common Data Set, in 2005-2006, the transfer acceptance rate for males was about 50%, whereas that for females was only around 20%.

Q2:

Second semester grades are not required when one submits the transfer application, however, Emory's admissions office has asked applicants for their second semesters grades in the past after their application was submitted.

Q3:

Yes, it is to one's advantage to apply as early as possible.

Your HS stats are good by Emory standards. As long as you pull of a pretty good college GPA, which I'm guessing you will, then I think you'll easily gain acceptance.

thanks Blaze,
since i am a male, i guess i have a more chance to get in. ^^
Like i said, i am a georgia resident. does it also help?
why do males have more chances? just wondering

Q: can you say 3.4 is a pretty good college GPA? (that's what i think i will probably get .)

Apply but also apply to oxford college campus if Emory is that important to you...I'm considering that myself as you graduate with the same degree as someone who did all undergraduate at Emory's main campus. IMO in anyway

Well, a 3.4 may very well be high enough (I know a guy with a 3.5 from a community college who got into Emory).. but I wouldn't be particularly comfortable applying with a 3.4. I'd aim higher.

any more comment?

How closely does emory consider your HS record when transfering?

bump, bump, bump

It's not to hard to get into Emory. I love ATL btw.

Transferring into Emory College is easy, the Emory business school is much more difficult.

thanks for your comments guys.
any more?

Is it really that easy?

Can someone chance me????/

HS Stats:
GPA: 3.7 UW/4.2 W
SATs: Not even going to say
APs:2(all A's), Honors: 12( all A's)
Extracurriculars: Key Club, Jewish Forum, Push For Peace, Vocal Ensemble(2 years), Drama(one year), volunteered a lot in the community (200+ hours), lots of cancer walks and events.
Awards: National Honor Society, Top Student of Excellence in Science( senior year), Community service awards.

College Stats:
GPA: 3.4-3.6ish
Clubs: Colleges Against Cancer, Circle K, Rotaract Club, Maryland Hillel, Maryland Chabad
Tried to start a club @ Maryland and bring a few charitable events to campus, but Maryland has not been cooperative.

Emory is my top choice, and I would kill to go there. Only reason I did not apply to Emory for freshman year is tremendously low SAT scores and I really did not have time research colleges, since I took SATs last minute for certain private reasons.
