Transfer to Johns Hopkins University? PLZ Need Advice. Thank you

Is it difficult to transfer into Johns Hopkins University after you sophmore year of college? Ill be going to New Paltz University for 2 years for an associates degree and would like to transfer to Johns Hopkins University for my junior year.

I had a 2.5 GPA and scored a 18 on my ACT in high school and was a big slacker:-(
But in college I will have a 3.5 or higher and will join some clubs and be involved with IM sports and will be involved with research and community service.
What will be my chances of being accepted as a transfer to Johns Hopkins University?

Please Respond, Thank You

what college are you going to? a 3.5 could be good or bad depending on the answer to that question...

Im going to a 4 year university to get an associates degree in health sciences. It is a SUNY and the name of the college is SUNY New Paltz:-)

Bump
Please any advice.
Thanks

ok i don't really know much a/b it which means, to be safe, you can consider yourself on equal footing with myself :) and I go to a community college. If the 4-year university you attend is pretty unknown, you're gonna want to get as close to a 4.0 as you can get, and take honors courses. If you attended a more competitive university, a 3.5 would be a good GPA, but at your current institution you should try to get as high a GPA as possible for it to be considered equivalent to someone at say, Syracuse, with a 3.5. Hopkins is tough to get into. Good luck.

my friend goes to Johns Hopkins and hates it. Says it's very competitive.

Hopkins has accepted about 16% of transfer applicants in recent years - not very many, but a higher % than some other equivalent schools (eg, Stanford accepts around 5%).

Do your best in college; take a rigorous courseload. Develop a good relationship with at least two profs so that you will have good recommendations. Then, go for it. Since JHU has a low acceptance rate, consider applying to other, safer, schools that you like if you definitely want to transfer.

Mightymeals makes a comment that is a stereotype of Hopkins. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but there are many, many who do not see it that way. There is a very good thread on that topic here on cc - with some very thoughtful comments and insights from students. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=205512
