I applied to Pitt main and didn't get in, so I decided to go to a branch campus in hopes of transfering into main after only a year. How difficult is the transfer process? Will they look at my college grades or review my high school stats? Would it be different for me from a branch campus than someone else at a different school? Just want to gather some info about the whole transfer process. Thanks.

I’m pretty sure as a transfer (from any college, even the branch campuses) they would only look at your college grades. But I’m not too sure, just going by what I’ve read on the website.

If you don’t mind me asking what your gpa and test scores were? I’m applying to Pitt Main.

This is a question you need to call and ask Pitt about specifically. I believe they put transfers from the branches in the pool with others, but if you are borderline for main campus admission and do great your first year, you’d probably be a good candidate to transfer. General transfer information is here: [University of Pittsburgh: Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid](http://www.oafa.pitt.edu/transadm.aspx)

The transfer stats from Pitt’s common data set are 47.7% acceptance rate. Transfer candidates must have a minimum of 24 credits completed elsewhere with a minimum 3.0 GPA. You have to send high school and college transcripts and an essay. It doesn’t seem as though they require that SAT scores be sent, so that might work in your favor depending on where your stats lie. Again, it is best to ask Pitt specifically about this.

A lot of people really like the regional campuses, but obviously, they aren’t as big or as urban, and the experience isn’t the same not being in the city, but the diploma is identical. They are very good schools in their own categories (they have US News regional and Princeton Review rankings) and they seem to be offering more curriculum built with the main campus schools.

I didn’t do to well in high school, which is obviously why I’m at a branch campus. But I really want to get to Main Campus in only a year. By the end of this first semester I will have completed 16 credits and with the spring semester I will have about 31-35 credits completed. I obviously don’t have a gpa now because this semester just started but the major I’m in (education) requires atleast a 3.5 to stay in the program. But I’m really interested in Graphic design more than education which they don’t offer at UPJ. Which is why I want to go to main to study art.
