Hello everyone! I am a sophomore at a community college in New Jersey. I want to know my chance of getting into NYU
Race: Asian - Raised in Hong Kong but born in the US, US citizen.
Gender: Male
College GPA: 3.85 (Major in Psychology)
Credits taken: 48 credits, will have 63 by the end of this semester. 4 credits from NYU, took a summer class in the psychology department, got an A.
Major applying: Steinhardt - Applied Psychology
HS GPA: Don’t want to mention attended three different high schools overseas, all are taught in English. Didn’t get
suspended or kicked out of school, just not happy with the environment Graduated HS overseas, but I born in the US, so they would take me as a domestic student. But I studied really hard at CC.
SAT/ACT: Doesn’t required if attended a year of college
ECs:
- Participated a MUN conference was held by a university in Hong Kong as a delegate
- Assisted my NYU professor’s project for his research project
- Sister cities member at my town
- President of Asian Student Association at my CC
- Members of peer mentoring club at my CC
- Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member, Psi Beta Honor Society member
- (Track team at my CC for a few months, we compete with other schools every week. I’m thinking about to quit, because it is so tiring and hard to focus on my schoolwork, I was tired everyday after training. Used to ran track during high school. I might not put track & field down on my app)
Working experience: Sales associate for a month during the summer break transition from high school to college
Letter of Recommendation: one from my NYU professor, another one is from my psychology professor at my CC
Admissions essay: Still working on the “Why NYU” one, done with the transfer objectives.
Financial aid: Not applying
