transfer to Penn?

Hi everyone.

I'm currently at Linfield college and I'm applying to transfer to Penn this March. If anyone happens to share the same interest, PM me and we can help each other out.

I have some questions about Penn and I hope people can help.

Does Penn emphasize a lot of SAT I and SAT II? I took my SAT once last year. But it wasn't so good (1960 in total). Should I retake it now as a college student? What about SAT II? Does Penn like students with SAT II more?

Please help out. Thanks everybody.

If you are a freshman at Linfield, your SATs and SAT IIs are more important than say if you were a sophomore applying for junior standing at Penn. (Same applies for your high school record/GPA.) If you haven’t taken the SAT IIs, don’t sweat them now unless Penn requires them, but I don’t recall sending mine. The bad part is, your SATs can only hurt you, but retaking them would be a significant opportunity cost that would divert attention from your current grades, which are priority one for transfers. I’d let them be unless you’re planning to transfer as a sophomore (which I don’t recommend in general).

If you’re a freshman at Linfield, just cool it and take in the new environment. It’s so easy to get sucked into transferring to greener pastures, but feel everything out and make sure this is what you want.

If you’re a sophomore, what are your freshman year grades?

Hi wayward,

I’m currently just a freshman. So by the time I apply to Penn this March, i would have my 1st grade only.

I will get 2 Recs, 1 from my Math professor and 1 probably from my Econ professor (my major).

I’m still thinking of retaking the SAT 1. Probably SAT II I wouldn’t go for.

What shoud I do to make the best out of my application?

Thank you.
