In high school i did very poorly. i had graduated with an embarassing 2.6 GPA and even worse SAT scores. i went through that "who cares about school" stage. now Im a freshman in my second semester at a community college.

I applied to rutgers NB in hs and i didnt get in. no surpise, i knew that was coming. it was the one and only school that i applied to cause its my dream school and i wont accept going anywhere else.

Like i said, now im a freshman at a community college and im in my second semester. my GPA is 3.87 and Ive been taking a pretty decent course load (5 classes fall semester, and 5 classes this current spring semester). i have 20 credits total (i took a summer class as well) and by the end of this spring semester i will have 36 credits completed. I sent my application and they have all my transcripts and everything else that was needed by the priority date. i applied to the SAS and SEBS. i dont know if my high school gpa/sat scores going to weigh me down since im trying to transfer in after only one year at CC

does ANYONE have any idea at all as to what my chances of getting accepted as a sophmore will be ?! any idea at alllllllllll ? thank you so much in advance to anyone who helps out!

I'm in a similar boat as you. Just applied to NB for the fall of 08". I am a Freshman at Rutgers Camden and I also got rejected out of HS. Rutgers NB is also my dream school as well. However, my GPA in HS was a little higher than yours, around a 3.5 and my SAT's were around an 1100 on the old SAT. First semester of college got a 3.75 GPA and this semester doesn't seem so bad so I'm hoping that that will be good enough to get me into the SAS for the fall. I think you have good shot of getting in though. I know a kid from my HS who didn't even take the SAT, went to a CC for a year and got a 3.5 and transfered to New Brunswick without any problems. So based on that I think that you have a great chance. Hopefully they won't look at your HS stats as much.

Are you in state by the way? I think that may help a little. And make sure that you have a strong transfer essay and possibly any letters of rec.

I'm on the same boat, I didn't do too poorly in high school in terms of GPA but I didn't do too well on the SAT's.

I am also at CC but I plan to graduate with a degree from it in the summer, hopefully will finish with 62-64 credits and currently the GPA is 3.76.

But I have two different stories, some people say (including a counsler at my CC) say I should be able to get in, and it really helps if you already earned an AA degree. But some people have told me it is really competitive to get in, as the business school is pretty difficult to get into as well

I sent all my stuff in the first weeks on January

you should have no problem getting in at all...and the b-school is very competitive, i know you need at least a 3.00 GPA just to apply but i think with a GPA as high as yours you should be able to get into the business school. It is also weighted on your major as well.

driftingxdream, i'm in the EXACT same situation >.<
the only difference is that i'm from out-of-state.. do u think being an out-of-state transfer with 3.8 gpa has a chance?

yeah you should be fine, i'm applying for arts and sciences for fall of 2008 only bad thing is that the notification date for school to school transfers is june 30th so i still have to wait a few more months before i get my decision =/

oic. i hope they let u know soon! :] umm also, do u know if there's any difference between applying in fall semester or spring semester? like, does spring have less spots or is it about the same? i would have applied for fall semester but it was already passed the application date..

umm i know two kids from last semester that got in for the spring and transfered. However, i do think that there are more spots if you were apply for the fall semester. Either way though i think that you should be fine getting in regardless of when you applied.

I applied to Rutgers-Newark and personally i think having to send high school transcripts over is kinda bogus if you ask me. They wanted mine even though i'm 24 and graduated high school in '02, since then i'v had 6 full time semesters of community college. Though hopefully they just glance over them. My stellar high school transcripts include like alot of F's and prolly a gpa around 2.0 or less :) Who knows could help me, they will be like "Wow he was the worst high school student, but a really solid college student". Best of luck to the other posters as well.

yeah as long as you have above a 3.00 from your CC then i don't see why Rutgers-Newark would turn you down. I doubt that they will even look at your highschool stats when considering your application.
