Hi I'm thinking about transferring to UC Davis from the University of Arizona, is it considerred an academic upgrade? I would be saving a lot of money so that's a plus, but I only want to do it if it is a smart decision and will give me more opportunities.

UC Davis has a higher reputation than Arizona overall, but Arizona has a high reputation in a few specific subjects like geology and philosophy.

Each school will attract local employers to its career center, so where you want to work after graduation may be relevant.

Depends on the costs. If you have to pay OOS rates for UCD, that would be foolish unless you are applying to their oenology major.

Davis does have a much better rep, but it ain’t worth 2x the price over 'Zona (unless you are miserable in your current situation).

Ok thanks for the feedback, Actually I’m a California resident paying OOS tuition at UA so I would be saving money by going to Davis.

the only reason I went to UA was because my hs grades weren’t the best and that was the best place for me, but now I’m thinking it makes sense to transfer since I hear Davis is a better school at least academically

If Davis is going to be cheaper than Arizona then it would make sense to transfer, provided that you are unhappy with Arizona. Looking up transfer stats, UC Davis is extremely transfer friendly and have around an acceptance rate in the 60% range.

Ok cool, well I’ve already been accepted to all there is to do is go now haha i’m just a little nervous about not knowing anyone there but hopefully that won’t be a big deal

However, UCs (and CSUs) tend to prefer transfer applicants from community colleges, as opposed to those from four year schools. They also prefer junior level transfers (typically those who have between 60 and 79 semester units of college work at the time of transfer).
