UC Davis vs. University of Arizona

Hello everyone! I'm a high school senior and I'm currently deciding between UCD and U of A. I'm having a hard time picking between the two and I was wondering if anyone could point out something that would make my decision a bit easier!

UCD:
I'm in the Environmental Science and Management major.
I live in California, so travel would be much easier. I live about an hour by car away from campus.
I like the campus and the people, and the atmosphere. The weather is very similar to my hometown.
I'm conflicted with the small town of Davis, I feel as if I'm going to be very bored.

U of A:
I'm in the Honors College and have a 48000 dollar scholarship for the 4 years, making this school a very strong candidate.
I'm in the College of Sciences under Biology.
I adore the campus and the people, and I love the desert weather.
Travel will be expensive, plane tickets.
Its not as a great of a school as a UC.

Anything else that I should take into consideration? I'm very appreciative of your time and help! Thanks.

Davis is terrific for your major and you’re lucky to be admitted into it. Go with Davis. And it’s cheaper and known for your major. I have no horse in this race.

Bored in Davis? Maybe… at least you can get home or head to Sacramento, Napa, Tahoe, or San Francisco for fun.

Bored in Tuscon? Definitely.

U of A is a fine school, but you will pay SIGNIFICANTLY more for a lesser education/experience. Davis is an exceptional choice for you. Want to get away from home? Think of all the world travel you can accomplish on the money you’ll save by not going to Arizona.

Another Davis vote here. If you engage, there’s plenty to do on and around campus.

Hey there! If you are interested in environmental sciences, we have a great program here at UA, with tons of opportunities in geosciences, hydrology and water resource, and other very important issues that come with a climate like Arizona. Our ES program is one of the top rated in the country and receives a TON of funding each year, so there would be a lot of opportunities for you. Everyone here at UA is always happy, campus is beautiful, Tucson is a very friendly and diverse city as long as you don’t go sticking your nose in places you shouldn’t! It is not boring, a ton of outdoor exploring to do, biking, hiking, and something is always going on it town or on campus.
I am out of state as well with the same scholarship, and also have to buy plane tickets, but it is definitely worth it. I was choosing between schools in CA and here, and am so happy I decided to come to Arizona. When you say it is not as great a school as a UC, you are wrong. We might not get as high of rankings as UCLA and Cal do, but we offer just as high quality of an education - just like them we are also a public ivy… The quality of education here that you will get for the price of tuition is one of the best in the country, and tuition for out of state students is not that bad compared to California or other states - especially with your nice scholarship. I highly encourage you to get out of state and into a new environment, I am happy that I did.

I don’t know why people dismiss U of A all of the time on here. It’s not like the school is in some small rundown desert town with tumbleweeds rolling through every 5 minutes. Tucson is a relatively large, modern city, with lots to do and unbeatable weather during the school year. If you are into the outdoors at all, it’s a no brainer - U of A wins hands down.

Having visited both campuses myself, U of A would win out in a landslide.
