Hi there! I was wondering what it takes to transfer from Cal Poly Pomona (CE major) to UCI or UCSD. I'm a freshman starting this Fall. Any advice would be great! Thank you in advance! I know I should have gone to a CCC, which I really regret..

Cal Poly Pomona is great for CE. It's not going to make much of a difference if you get your degree from CP Pomona, UCI or UCSD.

That being said, if you want to transfer, keep your grades up, and write a great essay detailing compelling reasons why UCI or UCSD would give you a better opportunity than Pomona.

I guess I just wanted that UC name.. haha

Sure enough. But, in my opinion, Cal Poly Pomona has a better program than UCI or UCSD. Cal Poly has a more practical engineering focus, whereas the UCs have a more theoretical focus.

Good luck to you.

Thanks!

What about the other schools: UCB, USC, UCLA, do they have better programs?

^ Well, UCB is top notch for civil engineering. If you were going to transfer out of Cal Poly Pomona, I'd shoot for Berkeley. That's my biased opinion. ;)
