transfer to UC

Can you guys help me please? I have 3.68 uc transferabla gpa and 3.2 overall gpa. I am going to apply for UCSB and UCSD and my major is Economics. Do I have a chance to be admitted? I heard that UC schools look at only overall gpa, is that true?

please help me

UCs look at:

-GPA
-Classes completed for your major
-IGETC

3.2 sounds a little low for UCSD, but you might have a good shot at UCSB depending on what you’ve taken so far. You’ll want to take it up to 3.5 or better in your remaining time at your Community College for SD though. Make sure you do all the requirements for Econ (go to assist.org to find out what they are) and complete the IGETC by the spring before you transfer to UCSB or UCSD, as that will increase your chances of getting in because the UCs will see that you’ve already completed your General Education requirements.

Although Im not sure what the difference between UC transferable GPA and Overall GPA is…

^ UCs only use your UC-transferable GPA to evaluate you as an applicant. Not all courses are deemed UC-transferable. Those that are not UC-transferable, are not included in your UC-transferable GPA.
