Transfer to UCLA Global studies help!!!

I took 4 years of Spanish in High school and I want to major in global studies at UCLA. Their requirement is saying that I need to take “Complete through the 4th semester of any modern foreign language” so does that mean I don’t need to take languages in community college? or do I need to retake it…?

4 years of Spanish in high school is roughly equivalent to 4 quarters at UCLA so you still have 1-2 more quarters of Spanish to take at UCLA, or through the CC’s 4th or 5th semester depending on the CC you are at.

Go to https://c-id.net/course_compare.html and look up Discipline for Spanish, then filter to “Intermediate Spanish II” and your CC to find an equivalent for the 4th semester.

Thanks!! also If they say 4th semester of any modern foreign language…can I take one language like Chinese in summer and two languages( chinese and spanish ) at the same time in Fall and one language like spanish in Spring ? will that work with 4th semester since I am taking four classes of foreign language???

No, it has to be through the 4th semester of 1 language.

You can take other languages, but the one you take the 4th semester of, will be the one that meets that requirement.

oh… i have 3semesters left in c.c. before I transfer…(summer,fall,spring) so it would not work…?

You may be able to test into the 3rd sor 4th semester of Spanish. Check with your CC.
